Me, it's the arrival of two different ebay purchases.
One's a cigar box uke, the other's a maple Bruko.

What's shimmering on the horizon for you?

I've been selling some stuff lately to raise funds for another big purchase. I'm hoping to upgrade my bass (you know, one of those extremely long scaled ukuleles) before anything else, provided I can sell my current one. If I can't find a buyer anytime soon, I'm going to give up for a while and buy a conga drum with the funds I've raised so far.

Nothing in the foreseeable future, I'm afraid.

But if I can ever afford it, my next target will be an old French fiddle. You can get a lot of sound for not too much money with those.

One day... ;)

Ordered a Kelii soprano Koa and Mahogany from MGM last night! It was originally the brand I was going to get before the whole KPK thing. So now, back to square one, and Mike was just in the process of putting a couple Kelii's up last night while I was asking him about the Koalana's. Sweet! I'm totally excited now. The sample clips on YouTube sound amazing, and he even played it over the phone for me.

You'll really come to love it. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Kelii is highly underrated.

I'm waiting for it to be warm enough to start having garage sales so we can get rid of more and more stuff as we prepare to make the leap of faith to move to Hawaii. My wife's from there and she really wants to be back and be closer to her parents. Ugh! Hubby thought the mobo would be here yesterday since he ordered it from newegg and they're local and we usually get packages quick. Turns out they shipped it from a facility in Tennessee (I think) and it's on the slow boat to China, so to speak. And he still had to pay 9.75% sales tax, so he would have been better off just going to Frys or something. :(

I'm waiting for this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230430934065&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT)! It's my second ukulele, and I feel terrible for bidding on accident (and by accident I mean impulse). I think it might be a concert, and I do want to try the other sizes because soprano is a bit itty for me. Even if it isn't, and even though I have no idea how 'good' it is, I don't care. I just got my first uke (mahalo U50, with dolphins on the tuning gears! <3)and I love it with every plinky-plink note because it's my first and I've had it three days and oh my god I can't BELIEVE I ordered another one so soon (but it's cool, the ex is paying for it in return for a knit scarf), I mean I only starting to learn a few songs and maybe seven chords (I've never played a chorded instrument before ever) and I was going to wait, but.......

It has turtles on it! Turtles!

When it comes to darling wee things, my resistance just dissipates. The combination of ukulele + tutles? I never had a chance.

There's no chance of a left-handed version coming to life, is there? It's not the strings, I play with the strings the way they are. It's the placement of the electronics controls.

Dude, you hit the jackpot...I was wondering why you joined the Fluke Foundation...do you let your wife know before or after Valentine's Day? That could be a separate thread. Before might be better. Too lazy to set up a poll. Maybe pd could handle that..."Should Josh Tell His Wife Before or After Valentine's Day?" I've been there...on Valentine's Day itself with a serenade?

Josh, may I also suggest chocolate and some underwear...this might appear as a 4th option, a hybrid approach...5th option: "Hey, I'm the man here." 6th option: spineless pleading.

It's a good thing it's snowing. I might be driving to Matt Umanov's in the Village to buy that Ohana SK-35G...the one I tried out with my wife standing there listening...

6th option: spineless pleading.

Right now, I'm thinking spineless pleading may be in order. See, it wasn't so much that she frowned on the deal, it was more of an outright prohibition. Then the UAS madness grabbed ahold of my feeble brain, I asked the guy if he would knock off $25, he did and I sealed the deal. I don't think I'd survive telling her before Valentine's Day! For now, I'm thinking I'll keep it at work and play it in the park over lunch...

Its only 100 bucks, you could be dropping that in a week or less down at the bar.

That's very true. Hey, it could be heroin, right?! I'll survive the day, I'm sure...

I realize that since this thread started I've probably been waiting for three new ukes! Now, it's the Ohana SK-35 matte that MGM just shipped. The fortunate thing for me is that I don't have a bride who complains: we each have our mad money and are excited by what we each do with it. Lately, I buy ukes...

Congratulations ! I am in the same situation. When the Kiwaya pineapple came today, she said "Wow, cute!"
When she wakes up tomorrow, I'll tell her about the 2 cases I ordered tonight for it and the baritone uke that I just won on Ebay.

So, I'm waiting on 2 cases and a baritone uke. Should be here early next week.

I'm waiting for capitalism to brake down so we finally can get a fair economic system for all (no, I'm not a communist).

Edit: I'm also waiting to buy aquila strings for my tenor and a clip-on tuner.

Waiting for a set of low G strings to come from a music store in Queensland. When they get here they're going on my Dolphin.
Also a copy of Ukulele Fretboard Roadmaps is coming from Amazon - been waiting ages for that one - hope its not lost in the post.
And, the big one, a banjolele is on its way from Waverley St. I scan the horizons daily.

That's the trouble with living in Western Australia. Its a long way to anywhere...

Hee hee. Glad you like the sticker Steve. I think the world needs a lot less "normal" people.

I had some made - I needed it to go with a rusty (but much loved) old Beetle...
PM me your address and I'll send you one (if you don't mind a black one cos that's what's left!)

Estimated arrival date from Amazon for my Mahalo Banjo Shaped Uke is today. UPS tracking has it having arrived at the local center at 6:14 this morning. Let's see if it makes it on a truck today.

An order of Guadalupe Custom Strings. White for Rich's tenor, multi-color for my concerts, and blue for my soprano. They look pretty cool, but it's the sound that's really amazing.
