I have a Mainland Tenor and a no-name soprano that need new string. The Mainland Tenor just need a new 4th string and the no-name needs a complete.

When buying strings a usually go for a high 4th string but my plan was to get the low 4th string this time.

The question now is if there are any good low 4th strings that are not spun? (Is that the english word btw?)

We typically call them wound strings. You can get a set of Worth strings in all unwound low-G. Welcome to UU!

Yes!

The most common English word for what you are looking for is wound. That will help you communicate with sellers.

MusicGuyMic has single unwound fluorocarbon 4th strings (or G strings) by the Fremont string company in both black and clear.

Worth also makes sets of strings made of fluorocarbon with unwound G strings.

Welcome!

I think Orca makes a unwound low-G. I have a set of them but have not tried them yet. I got them from MGM and they are apparently really popular in Japan.

I will second the Worth unwound low G. I just put a set on a ukulele and it sounds so much better then the set, name unmentioned, I had on before.

Also you could always buy single Classical Guitar Strings to make your set, but I don't know which size or strings to try but others on the board do.

DaKine Line also makes an unwound low G using fluorocarbon. I've out the DaKine Line strings on all our 'ukuleles, I like them so much. And you can buy a single string, if you like.
