Uke Article in SF Bay Guardian

"As soon as I picked up the uke, I started writing a song," explains vocalist-ukester Emily Ritz of HoneyComb. "Its size was perfect, and I liked the challenge of making a uke sound dirty, dark, and dangerous." Influenced by everyone from Billie Holiday to Joanna Newsom, Ritz turns the ukulele into something mysterious and haunting."

Emily Ritz is a classmate of my son (Kailua Elementary), and the daughter of Lyle Ritz. I am surprised she does not mention her father as an influence or mention her connection at all. I'm guessing she doesn't want to ride his coat tails or be compared to him. Good to hear she's picked up the 'ukulele, haven't heard from her in years.
