Not sure if this has been covered before, but I contacted Mi-Si about adding volume and tone controls to to their Trio pickup. They told me that they will offer a sound hole volume and tone control board in a few months. They also gave me a diagram on how to connect one myself. Thought I'd share!
To connect Volume pot to Simple Jack preamp:
1. Carefully cut PCB trace with X-ACTO knife as shown in Fig. 1
2. Solder wire to pad marked “Vol. Pot Top” and then solder it to the top terminal of the 10 or 20 kOhm Volume pot of your choice.
3. Solder wire to pad marked “Wiper” and then solder it to the wiper terminal of the Volume pot.
4. Solder wire to pad marked “Ground” and then solder it to the bottom (ground) terminal of the Volume pot.
Do not overheat pads – excessive thermal exposure may cause separation of pads from the board.
This work should be performed by person experienced in fine soldering.
