Ukulele Festival Hawaii Do you know a high school senior that loves to play the ukulele, and needs a little help for college? Ukulele festival Hawaii is accepting applications for a $1,000.00 Scholarship.
The Ukulele Festival Hawaii Scholarship Program is funded by Ukulele Festival Hawaii, a non-profit organization founded in 2004.
Ukulele Festival Hawaii builds public awareness and interest in the ukulele as an instrument of virtuoso quality promoting Hawaii’s arts and culture through education, scholarships, and the annual free ukulele festivals.
Criteria:
Be a graduating high school senior and resident of Hawaii
Be accepted for admission to an accredited 4-year college or university
Enjoys playing the ukulele
Must be of good character
Demonstrates financial need
Application Process:
Completed typed Application Form
Personal Statement Essay --Describe your educational plans, career goals, any financial struggles you have because of college expenses, and your interest in the ukulele. Also include activities, experiences, awards you’ve received. Please type the one page essay and submit on a separate sheet.
Two (2) Letters of Recommendation. At least one from a high school teacher.
A relative is not acceptable.
Optional: First page of your parents’ Federal Income Tax Return (Form 1040).
Deadline for application is March 31. 2010. Applications postmarked after this date will not be accepted.
