I'm looking for a concert that is very responsive to touch. In that size which do you think would be best?

Mahogany
Red Cedar/ Rosewood
Mango
Zebrawood

Gee there are so many nice ukes out there, I guess it depends on your price range. I know Kala makes one out of Koa back and sides with a cedar top that is very nice...you could try...wait a sec...found this on E-bay, Koa Pili Koko...solid Acacia, I have a tenor that is tremendously responsive (w/ Aquila strings)...this is a deluxe w/ abalone, but he has a plain one for a bit less!

I'd seriously consider the Mele spruce top.

Excellent suggestion. I agree with the spruce top. The Ohana CK-75G is another excellent choice... solid maple with spruce, too.

for what you want I would save for a Koaloha, I think they're the most responsive, quick and loud uke made
