How about Just Breath by Pearl Jam?
Its on the new Backspacer album. I haven't tried it yet (i've only been playing for a few weeks!!) but the lyrics are gorgeous.

Yes I understand that every life must end, aw huh,..
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, aw huh,..
I’m a lucky man to count on both hands
The ones I love,..

Some folks just have one,
Others they got none, aw huh,..

Stay with me,..
Let’s just breathe.

Practiced are my sins,
Never gonna let me win, aw huh,..
Under everything, just another human being, aw huh,..
Yeh, I don’t wanna hurt, there’s so much in this world
To make me bleed.

Stay with me,..
You’re all I see.

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn’t now I’m a fool you see,..
No one knows this more than me.
As I come clean.

I wonder everyday
as I look upon your face, aw huh,..
Everything you gave
And nothing you would take, aw huh,..
Nothing you would take,..
Everything you gave.

Did I say that I need you?
Oh, Did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn’t now I’m a fool you see,..
No one know this more than me.
As I come clean.

Nothing you would take,..
everything you gave.
Hold me till I die,..
Meet you on the other side.

nothing says a wedding like butterfly kisses...when in doubt there's always ....im yours! ...lol

What kind of music does she like... that would help me think of some. Country? Oldies? Traditional? Old School? Quirky?

Contry - From this moment (Sinia Twain)
Oldies - God Only Knows (Beach Boys) In my life (beatles)
Traditional - Unforgetable (Nat King Cole) The way you look tonight (Sintatra)
Old School - Love of a Lifetime (Firehouse)
Quirky - The Luckiest (Ben Folds) <-- my personal favoriet... one of the quirkiest but best love songs of all time

Book of Love

The Book of Love by the Magnetic Fields as covered by Peter Gabriel (and used for the wedding scene in Scrubs) and especially Krabbers. There won't be a dry eye in the house err church.

Krabbers version should be called the 3 Finger Symphony. It's the greatest. Ever.

I was in a small group (guitar, mandolin, uke, banjo ) that performed at a fellow group member wedding and among others, we did Side By Side, as the couple exited the church. different, but appropriate, don't you think?

There is no debate.

Of course, Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" has been done to death at weddings, but it's still quite good. I've always liked "Stand By Me" and if it's a nighttime affair, "Moondance" always makes a great first dance for the couple.

I think if you can nail down

close to you - the carpenters

it would be a swell song for your sister.

That's a good one. Although, if you're going to do the Carpenters, how about the quintessential wedding song: "We've Only Just Begun"?

Of course, there's a whole raft of potential good ones from the Great American Songbook. "The Way You Look Tonight", "I Concentrate on You", "The Tender Trap", "Our Love is Here to Stay"... the list goes on and on. (I'd avoid "At Last". It's kinda overdone these days.)

And you can't go wrong with the Beatles. "In My Life", "I Will", "Here, There, and Everywhere", etc.

The Road That Never Ends (easy chords)

Composed By: Jim Kimball
Performed By: Keali'i Reichel
Submitted By: Amber Keoho <palehua1991@yahoo.com>

G
Here we are
Em
In this holy place together
C
Bearing witness as the two of you
D G
Become man and wife

On this day
Em
As you join in heart and spirit
C
You begin another chapter
D G
in the book of life

Chorus:
D Em
Love is a circle that surrounds you
C
You can find it on the faces
D
Of your family and friends

G D Em
Love, let it wrap it's arms around you
C
And guide you on your journey
D G
Down the road that never ends

There's a song in your hearts
You can hear it if you listen
As it whispers through the branches
High above the family tree

And as time
Plays it's melody upon you
You can rest assured in knowing
That you are right where you should be

Chorus 2x

Without a doubt, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard performed at a wedding was John Denver's "For You". It is a very simple, yet heartwarming song and transposes to uke very nicely.
It's one of those songs that I love playing, I just wish I had a set of pipes like John Denver. Here's his version:

dont do that "Falling in Love with you" song....old and boring

"Stand by Me" however is a timeless classic

Yes, "Falling In Love" is good for a Valentine's Day serenade, but IMO not a wedding. Presumably, the couple are already in love or they wouldn't be there! I would go for the song that speaks of enduring love when making your choice. I played a wedding once where the bride insisted we play the Eagles' "Peaceful Easy Feeling" just before she walked down the aisle, followed by the traditional "Wedding March," complete with the lyric, "I wanna sleep with you in the desert tonight." I suggested we substitue "sleep" with "be" but we did it as written. The church didn't crumble, but it just felt so wrong in that setting!
