I copied this from the FMM. It gives others an idea of the size of kanikapila on the west coast. I see many of the Barefoot Wahines scattered out through the videos (the bass player's one of Salukulady's band members). There are dozens of clubs this size, larger and smaller all over California. The upcoming Inland Empire Ukulele Festival will surprize anyone who attends this year. I had no idea there were that many from just one small region. Ric

My Ukejam group was making a set of videos as part of a promo for Island Bazaar in Huntington Beach, CA, with our leader, Shirley Orlando, heading up the orchestra.

Enjoy them all."

Uke nation is alive and well. Nice to see all sorts of people feeling the spirit of the uke.
The gentleman leading the group on "The City of New Orleans" is playing a Pineapple Sunday.

Kolohe, the Hawaiian group, is at Island Bazaar on Tuesdays. I'll be there tonight at 7pm.

I've been to Island Bazaar. Does that count?

Seriously -- how fun!

My first visit to Island Bazaar was on a Friday around noon. The regular players were halfway through their playlist. Watching and listening to 50 people playing and singing at once gave me a greater appreciation for the instrument and community. I bought my Ohana tenor there that day.

We average a half dozen at our Guitar Merchant gatherings. It's very different from the size and scope of Island Bazaar.

Hats off to Shirley and Dan for making it all happen.
