Lol, I made a tenor out of my baritone.. just put on light tenor strings, tuned it up a step.

And what a lovely tune, I may have worn out the video I've played it so many times already. :)

Safest way would be to buy a Tenor string set tuned to DGBE.
Aquila have a set. I have it on my Tenor. It's not great acoustically, so I mostly use it plugged in.

Here is an example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APSrC5zM-cs I use heavier strings than tenors. Guitar strings work well. Need some tesion for good quality sound...
