It should be noted that triplets don't always fit into one beat. There are quarter note triplets, 16th note triplets, etc... 8th note triplets is what Aldrine is talking about when he say they fit into one beat. All a triplet does is say "hey, fit three notes into the space of two". So a quarter note triplet would fit into the space of two quarter notes - a half note. A 16th triplet fits into the space of two 16ths (an 8th note).
