I've been thinking of creating a UU iphone app but I need to know how many people would buy it. The app would basically give users access to ALL uke minutes and uke lessons on their iPhone. We'd also release some special app only vids along with it.

Would anyone be interested?

I cannot be emphatic enough about this. Heck YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where do I start the lineup to download? I'm always having to try to download the lessons off viddler or something and then load them onto my iPhone. An app would be awesome to have.

I would buy it, if not only to support my UU family. It would be a good on-the-go resource.

If I could access the forums from it however, I'm afraid I would chop off an extremity or 2 to get ahold of that...seriously...or at least a "mobile" version of the forums, that's really all we need. I know that MANY of us type on the forums from our iPhones and it's a pain in the...saddle. A mobile version would really be the cat's pajamas.

There's a mobile style available for vB that works very well. Tapatalk isn't bad, either; that requires a plug-in.

Stick a tuner on it as well.

I'm not an iPhone owner myself, but I agree. Can't people already watch the lessons and uke minutes on their iPhones by just using the web browser? Maybe not. But anyway, adding extra stuff like a tuner, a chord reference, etc., will probably get more people to shell out money for an app.

Sounds like a great Idea. Good luck to you and keep us posted on the development.

there's already a free tuner called "ukulele tuner" that is quite useful, so i think if we added a tuner it'd have to be better than the free one already offered, ya know?

I remember suggesting this via Twitter. Lol. But yes, a UU iPhone/iPod Touch app would be very helpful.

All the above. But I would want the app to have an iPhone-friendly chords diagrams/tabs feature. There are times when I wish I could play something (or somebody ask if I know something). So a tab/chord feature would be cool using the ones d-loaded here and whatever else you could squeeze into it. You could even add a metronome.

Justin_akai

I have two comments:

1. If it was no more than a couple of bucks, I'd buy it no matter what features it had just to support the UU
2. I currently have an app called the GuitarToolKit that has a Ukulele setting.

It has a tuner that tunes for standard C, C (low G), D, D (low A), G, G (Low D)
customizable metronome
exhaustive visual/audible chord chart
playable fretboard that:

allows you to make up your own chords and it tells you the name
and has an exhaustive set of scales and intervals for a huge number of keys

It has each of these features for the 6, 7 & 12 string guitar, 4, 5 & 6 string bass, banjo, mandolin and ukulele

This app is the gold standard of fretted instrument apps. I'm not saying that you'd have to beat it, but it would be nice to have some usable features and not end up as one of those other apps out there that is just trading on a recognized name and doesn't bring any value to the user.

1.99? Any price, for UU, is reasonable....

essentially, Angry birds is 1.99 isn't it? It's a good game and everything, but UU would be a whole lot better.

Count me in, also. I'd be on a UU app like a uke-playin' Donkey Kong.

Another recommendation for Guitar Toolkit, too - it's very good indeed (and not just for ukes). I find UkeMaster a nice chord app, also. Those two and the ClearTune chromatic tuner are my open-mic apps of choice...

It would've great if it was a iPhone/iPad universal app to take advantage of a bigger iPad screen.

And most importantly, if the earlier lessons in flash format were converted so they could be viewed on these devices.

Looking forward to it!

Great idea, everywhere has an app for their website and anything these days. But you would have to create a UU iPhone app aswell as a UU Android app, because i have an android phone, i cannot download iphone apps, so if you made an android version, i would buy this.

As much as I love the main site, I would rather a forum app.
By chance the people that make this bulletin make a mobile suite to make an app for both iOS and Android
https://www.vbulletin.com/index.php?do=mobile
I know I would spend a few bucks to have this on my phone

A responsive website would be a better investment. Something designed for desktop/laptop, tablet and phone-sized devices. With just a few breakpoints you could have a site that would be functional for any of the platforms/operating systems people use to access your site and you wouldn't have to deal with the hassles of Apple's idiotic rules around in-app subscriptions.

All I really want is for the search feature on this site to be helpful some way.
