Its a mahogany neck that runs all the way through the can. I added a walnut fingerboard and overlay. Gotoh tuners and aquila strings. The trick is, I had to carve a concave dip in the neck/dowel stick where it ran under the can. Otherwise it touched the top of the can and muted the sound. It sounds better than I thought, if a bit quiet. I am imagining a k+k pickup glued to the underside of the can and then through the overdrive pedal into the tube amp. mmmmm, grungy...
