Hello everyone.

I recently purchased a Mainland uke and the C string had a bit of buzz at the saddle. I still love this uke! Mike at Mainland was awesome and sent a new set of strings, a saddle, and a couple nuts. I replaced the saddle and that seems to have done the trick. The saddle is much taller than the original and now the action is pretty high. I'd like to sand down the saddle but I've never done this before. I'm a beginner. I'm worried that if I sand it down I'll get the same buzzing again or that I might mess up some other way. A local guitar shop charges 45 bucks for a setup so I'd like to do a DIY route instead. Is there a method. I've read some posts online about using fine grit sandpaper and a straight edge of some sort. Any advice is appreciated!
