I live with owners of an Irish pub, so I hear a lot of Irish music, and I too am counting down to St Pat's (which I usually take off work as a 'Religious Holiday' before chugging down lots of green Guinness :) ) Here's a link to an Irish band who play at said pub, they may inspire you.. or not.

Either way, Whiskey in the Jar/Kilgary Mountains! And if you want something more contemporary, maybe U2 (preferably Joshua Tree era), The Corrs, The Cranberries, Elvis Costello, Van Morrison, Sinead O'Conner.... ok, now I'm drawing a blank. Plenty of options though that don't involve looting a lute tune :)

If you really love Traditional Irish Music, you should know that Danny Boy should never be played. ;)
 
oooh can I make a request for 7 drunken nights by the Dubliners. I was in Dublin last weekend and this was definately the song of the weekend!
