How would this work setup as a uke?

It would work as an 8 string uke by changing nothing but the strings. Scale length is probably 13.5" which would be fine as a soprano. I have a Risa electric uke that is currently tuned to mandolin GDAE tuning.

Well, its a 4 string mandolin, so it probably wouldn't do so well as an 8 string uke.

My plan, if I choose to accept it, is to fab my own bridge, similar to the one on the Mandobird IV, using Strat type saddles.

Interesting--I'll delete my other post regarding scale length. What about using nylon uke strings to drive the top--aren't mandolins steel stringed instruments?

The Saga would have to have steel strings for the included pickup to work. You could adapt it to a piezo I guess.
