I just bought a used Kala KA-TA from someone on eBay, I asked them if it was solid KOA before I bought it and they said it is. I just cannot confirm this anywhere on the net. Does anybody know? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that it's not solid koa, but a koa laminate. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm not sure either. Maybe send kala an e-mail or MGM, he would know. The only thing is I would think you would have to be sure of it's model #.

I believe thats laminate. When i contacted Kala, they didnt have much to say. The vague email consisted of "Its Laminate. Thanks, Kala" haha

I bought one for my nephew and know for a fact it is laminate...
...before you get upset, I've got to say it is the best sounding laminate tenor I've heard. I assumed it would sound the same as my brother's Kala mahogany laminate, but the Koa laminate sounds much better. You won't have to worry about it cracking too.
