question about volume differences

I'm still very new to ukes and had a question. I have a Kala Koa concert and I also have a Bushman Echo soprano (laminated). The soprano seems louder and "punchier" while the Kala is quieter. Is this what is to be expected?

It totally depends on the instrument. That said, my take is that sopranos sound more bright and trebly and the bigger the size the more mellow/bassy things get. Since our human ears pick up treble better than bass (in the range we can hear of course) you might get the impression that the soprano is louder. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm a what is, is kind of guy so I don't over think this kind of thing.
