Started learning clawhammer on the banjo, and trying it out on the uke as well. Find it easier to play clawhammer on the uke than the banjo for some reason. Maybe it's the nylon strings and fret spacing.

Thanks,

amazing stuff! Almost sounds like you've got steel strings on that uke.

Sounds great. Thankyou for sharing.

Can I ask where the music for pieces like these can be found? Is it a book or online or improvised from something?

Appreciate the comments. It's fun playing clawhammer style on the uke.

flea_bitten,

The songs are all from banjo tabs. The banjo is tuned to open G (gDGBD). If you have a low g string on your uke, and tune the uke to GCEG then you're in an open tuning (open C). If you tune a baritone uke to DGBD instead of the normal DGBE then it's basically in banjo tuning without the high g 5th string.

Goggle for banjo tab in standard open G tuning (there's a lot on the web), and find some songs you're insterested in. I usually play notes on the 5th string on the banjo tab (high g), on the 3rd G string. You can also check out www.banjohangout.org for lots of banjo stuff (tabs, forum, etc.)

Also put up several videos on YouTube a while back about playing banjo songs on the uke. You can check the first video at the link below. Kind of explains what I just mentioned.
