What kind of uke would you buy if you could buy any uke out there? The catch is, it has to be available to the public, from any store that would normally stock it. You can order it if they are sold out or don't have that particular modle in stock. No cusoms, please.

Ko'olau style 1 in mahogany (just got one in ulawood, very balanced, resonant, musical, appears to have no flaws in concept, design or craftsmanship)

All other brands I've tried have been disappointing in some way, but these guys know how to make ukes...

Can it be a uke you already own?

Well I already got mine, the new Risa Les Paul tenor in Black!
(the black one in my sig)

I would love a "Le Noir" by Pete Howlett. Oops, no customs. I still want one really bad.

I have a KoAloha. I don't really need another ukulele. The only ukulele I'm drooling over and NEED is a Moore Bettah. It's a custom -- sorry.

If I could have any uke in the world I would choose a Republic resophonic (http://www.republicguitars.com/ukuleles.html) like the one Aaron Keim uses when he plays Greasy Coat (http://www.youtube.com/user/ackeim#p/u/15/D5V4mtZ-0qg). Now I don't seriously think the uke would make me able to play like that but its fun to dream and the uke really is cool. I love the scruffy finish.

Kiwaya KTT-1 Mahogany Tenor,

if not, then a Kepasa or Talsma will have to suffice.

I would probably get this Collings tenor that is currently in stock at Acoustic Vibes in Tempe.

Does the Pineapple Sunday count as a custom? What about the Moore Bettah "Not-So-Basic" concert? ;)

Maybe a Kamaka pineapple or a batik Fluke.

In no particular order; Kamaka HF-3, Ko'olau T-100, KoAloha KTM-00, Kanile'a K2 Super Tenor. Customs will have to be another thread.

Probably a KoAloha Sceptre. If we had been allowed a custom, it would be a Moore Bettah...

Can't decide between these three;
Koaloha KTM-00 Tenor (that hard to get model).
Loprinzi Model D Koa Tenor.
Compass Rose Koa tenor (Rick Turner (does he know I'm his neighbor and he should just give me one?)).

A Ko'olau Contemporary Series tenor made with macassar ebony & spruce. I guess it's a custom level instrument, but it can be purchased at Hawaii Music Supply in Oahu off the rack a couple of weeks ago.

If this doesn't count then probably a KoAloha ebony/spruce Sceptre. (...hmm, what do you think is my favorite tonewood???)

Don't know yet, but it's going to be a fun week or two back home visiting all the makers and shops to try them all, but I'm leaning towards a Koaloha super concert or tenor.

I'd have to agree with you. My next stock uke will either be a koaloha tenor or super concert but I want a crown bridge one.

Well, the pat answer would be "yes". :D

But if I had dough to spare, what I'd like is a vintage National resonator. (http://elderly.com/vintage/names/national-style-1-concert-ukulele-%281928%29--180U-941.htm) That might actually put an end to my UAS, if not my marriage...

i played one of these without knowing the value or any info about national ukes i thought it was the best sounding resonator i had ever heard. i was about to buy it until i saw the pricetag which said 1250!

A flea concert or a fluke. I need something durable. I like the surf design. APAP (as plastic as possible). It needs to resist one 2-year old and groups of thirty teenage boys.

At some point, I'll want a really nice ukulele, maybe a Kamaka pineapple. Something simple. Elegant.
