Hey all,
Check out my latest ebay purchase, it looked scuffed up to hell and potentinally unsound but I couldn't resist.
Here it is a Banjo Ukulele. A Roy Smeck "junior" model made by John Grey and Sons.
It's not the size of a normal Banjo Uku, it's actually the size of a soprano ukulele; which seems somewhat unique.
I'm not entirely sure of it's age, but the pegs are bakelite which I guess puts it in 30's/40's?
It does need some work doing to it (posted in luthiers lounge please post if you have any ideas) but I can't wait to get it sorted.

One thing that gets me about this though is this picture [http://twitpic.com/1avs6q] this says Roy Smeck. Does it look like it could be Roy Smecks signature? The other writing seems to be written on by the previous owner (Ebay sellers Grand-dad, no idea why he sold to be honest). If so then talk about win!

So what do you think?

Looks like signatures to me on that skin! Wonder if they are all of the previous owners, in which case that is special and you mightn't want to do much about it apart from giving it a good clean. Chuck on the Fleamarketmusic web site / forum might be able to help you find out more about this uke.
