Hi Guys, I'm new.
I found this video on youtube earlier:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCzx5khZMSM
and just spent a bit of time trying to work it out.

here's what I have so far (please excuse the confusing way i've named chords, I didn't know the real names and couldn't think of a different way to do it)
Code:
G (1) (2) (3) G7 Em A D
2 2 3 3 1 2 0 0
3 2 3 3 2 3 0 2
2 2 0 3 1 4 1 2
0 0 0 0 0 0 2 2

Em(2)? C(2)? (4)
2 3 2
3 3 3
4 4 3
4 5 0

G
This is my Earth
(1)
And I live in it
(2)
It's one third dirt
(3)
And two thirds water
G
And it rotates and revolves through space
G7
At rather an impressive pace
(2) (3) G
And never even messes up my hair
Em
And here's the really weird thing
A
The force created by its spin
(2) G D
Is the force that stops the chaos flooding in

           Em(2)?
This is my Earth
         C(2)?
And it's fine
       D ???
It's where I spend the vast majority of my time
         (2)
It's not perfect
         G
But it's mine
         (2)
It's not perfect

A 3 3 10 3 3 3 3 3 3 10
E 3 3

Repeat until end of second chorus then:

~2:34~

something like:

3 3 3 3 3 3 3
3 1 0 1 0 3 3 x2
0 0 2 0 2 0 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 0

G
This is my brain
(4)
And I live in it
Em
It's made of love
(3)
And bad song lyrics
G
It's tucked away behind my eyes
G7
Where all my fucked up thoughts can hide
(2) (3) G
Cos God forbid I hurt somebody
Em
And the weird thing about my mind
A
Is that every answer that I find
(2) G D
Is the basis of a brand new cliche

          Em(2)?
This is my brain
         (2)
And it's fine
      D ??????
It's where I spend the vast majority of my time
 (2)
It's not perfect
       G
But it's mine
       (2)
It's not perfect
    G Em (2)
I'm not quite sure I've worked out how to work it
It's not perfect
But it's mine

something like:

3 3 3 3 3 3 3
3 1 0 1 0 3 3 etc..
0 0 2 0 2 0 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 0

I was wondering If anyone might be able to look it over and see if that looks right at all. or maybe even help with the bit I haven't been able to get ( the ????? part)

thanks :)

My speakers aren't so great but I've had a listen. You're pretty much correct with it all - I've just got a few things to point out:
  • He's tuned up half a step (so his strings are tuned to G#-C#-F-A#. So you need to either do the same or play everything one fret higher than what you've worked out.

  • The little "?????" thing is something like a quick interchange between 5433 (C) - 5543 (Em) - 5343 (G) - but remember to move all of these up a fret if you decide against tuning down and instead just playing everything up one fret.

  • I can't hear too well but the part that you've labelled

    3 3 3 3 3 3 3
    3 1 0 1 0 3 3 x2
    0 0 2 0 2 0 0
    0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Has one or two 0213's thrown in there. Listen a few more times and I've no doubt that you'll pick it up.

  • Lastly - here are the names to all your mystery chords

0222 - Gmaj7
0332 - Gaug
0213 - G7sus4
0033 - C5
0333 - Cm
0013 - Csus4
0203 - Cadd9

Bravo for figuring it out as you did. Enjoy!

That's fantastic!
Thank you so much. I'm surprised I didn't notice it was half a step up myself. I guess that's what comes from rarely tuning to actual notes rather than just to other strings!
