Guitars for sale..first up!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a few guitars I'd like to sell...I am working on a complete list I can just copy and paste into here, but I want to list a couple examples here to give you guys an idea of what I have...

Among them....

2004 USA Fender Strat 1954 Reissue....the one in the tweed case with the embroidered 50TH Anniversary Logo inside. It's the full 54 reissue look with the two tone sunburst, custom shop 54 reissue pickups, etc, etc. In essentially mint condition, as are most of my guitars. There's one on eBay right now being offered at almost $1900 or Best Offer, which is a LOT of money, and I can offer mine for less. A LOT less. $1400 or B/O, or trades.

Don't like Fenders?

How about a 2007 Gibson SG Standard? BRAND NEW, still in the box, literally, in the rarely seen and beautiful Natural Burst. Bought from Musician's Friend a few months ago for $1572, STILL IN THE BOX, will sell for $1200 or B/O.

Don't want an electric? (By the way, if you DO want an electric, I have LOTS more.)

How about a Gibson Sonoma SL-2 A/E in 3-D Quilted Maple? Essentially mint condition. They list for almost $3700, and MF sells them for $2600. How's the same thing, only BETTER, (I looked at a dozen of these to find the best example I could find, and this one is STUNNING!), for $2000, or B/O.

Don't want an Acoustic-Electric?
How about the best acoustic you'll ever play in your life?
My Martin HD-28, essentially mint. MF sells them for $2500. Like my SL-2, I searched for MONTHS, playing one after another after another, looking at the woods, SMELLING the woods, holding my ear to the top, and the back, and the sides, while playing notes and chords, to find the PERFECT example, and I think I did. 2K gets it, or B/O.

So.....I will work on getting the list complete, (I didn't even mention my Gretsch or PRS or Taylors, etc, etc), but if you have any interest in the ones I just mentioned, let me know. Serious inquires will motivate me to take out the camera and take however many pics you need to make a decision, as you deserve, because we all work so hard for our money.

Remember, I am already offering my hand picked and painstakingly maintained guitars at what I feel are very fair prices, so when I say "Best Offer", I mean something awfully close to my asking price. I am also open to trades for other guitars and,of course, ukes!

Thanks for your patience in reading this rather long post!

Well, I am a Taylor fan...what Taylors do you have...and how about the PRS? Just very basic details and asking price are ok. Thanks in advance!

Since I decided to sell a few guitars I am already down to one Taylor, my favorite of all time, my T-5 C2 Koa. It has the most beautiful Koa top I have ever seen on a T-5 Custom. You uke guys know how Koa, (and for that matter, ANY figured wood) is. The flame or quilt on one piece can suddenly rise head and shoulders above the rest, or one guitar is because it fell into the hands of the best luthier that day, just PERFECTLY book-matched.
This T-5 must have been crafted by the best luthier Taylor has in their employ, and while I know that sounds like sales hype, here's how I'll prove it isn't. I've decided to KEEP that one. I just know I'll never, ever find another T-5 Koa that will surpass it, so that one is going to stay with me.

As to my PRS guitars, I am down to only 2 from a previous 10.
One is my lipstick red HollowBody I, a wonderfully light and 335 sounding but with that PRS "edge" instument that I have decided to sell, although I know I'll regret it later. They bring around 2K for a plain-jane used one on ebay if they have some light play wear and a couple dings. Take my perfect one that even has the upgraded birds inlays for $1900 or B/O.

I also have a 2001 pre-lawsuit PRS SingleCut that is beyond belief. It is Les Paul like, as you know, with a "10 Top" done is a beautiful Tobacco Burst and Bird Inlays, as befitting this awesome model. A piece of history from PRS that I'll release from my grasp for $2200 or B/O, almost $1,000 less than many dealers are asking. (That's another guitar I'd like to keep if at all possible, but if it goes, it goes.)

Let me know if these look like something you'd like to add to your stable!

Holy buckets! That's a lot of guitars! I will be expecting to see quite a ukulele collection from you in the not too distance future.;)

References ARE available!

It occured to me that since I am a virtual stranger here, I should offer up some references to show my integrity, not just from guys I bought from here, like Gary and Nik, but also people who have bought guitars from me...people you might know.
I'm a HUGE Beatle fan, have been for over 40 years, and recently had the pleasure of meeting Tim Piper, the actor/musician who played John Lennon in "The Linda McCartney Story", and has a Lennon tribute show that has played all over the world called "Working Class Hero".
By the way, if you're a Beatles fan, ESPECIALLY a John Lennon admirer like me, you're really missing out if you don't see Tim's show if you ever have the chance. Google "Tim Piper" and you'll find film clips of him and you'll just be FLOORED by him..it's as close to seeing John himself as any of us will ever see....simply mind-blowing!
Anyway, a stage hand knocked his Revolution Casino off the stand after a show, and snapped the headstock off. Because I owned two of that model I was able to replace his in time for his next show, which was great honor for me.
Here's the guitar I sold him....(actually, the theater paid for it, of course!)
And no, the deluxe guitar stand did NOT go with the guitar. (My wife will KILL me if she ever reads that!)

TPREV13.jpg

Anyway, if you need references, I'm sure Tim wouldn't mind if you asked him for one, and he's easy to contact through his website.
I have other references if you need them, but please be assured, I always deliver what I promise, as my honor is far more valuable to me than the money ANY guitar could ever bring!

You're right...I get carried away when I fall in love with something!
BTW, if case you're curious, the guitars hanging on the wall are, far left, my very first electric guitar, a Teisco I got when I was about 11 years old back in '64, that still sounds and plays REALLY cool, and my two Jimy Nagy Custom Shop guitars (a small boutique builder in Ohio), that I commisioned and helped design each step of the way, and took almost a year to build. GREAT guitars...check Jimy Nagy on the web to see his stuff! The guitar in the middle is a Baritione with 3 P-90's...incredible tone like nothing I have ever heard....and the far right guitar has two vintage humbuckers with a really cool double stacked pot control system for awesome veratility and tonal range. This guy doesn't just build pretty guitars, (if you even think they're nice-looking..that's a matter of taste), he also builds fabulously playable and tonally unique instruments.

I have a couple beautiful Martins....
My HD-28, and an incredible 000C-RTGE Aura....both are fantastic! I also have a blonde CF-1 Jazz Archtop....Any interest?

Just wondering...

Why do you have so many guitars? Are you a full time musician, or just a
collector?
Either way, this is a great collection that definitely makes my mouth water

And also,
Why are you selling off your collection of great guitars?

Good questions!
One at a time...
I'm definitely NOT a full time musician....I would call myself a casual player, and a serious collector. I specialize in collecting late model really nice USA built guitars that are either vintage reissues or in some other way "interesting", and beautiful. I don't buy "utility" guitars, (ie, guitars that play great but don't look great), or imports, (other than Gretsch, because of their heritage, and the fact that their Japanese plant is building them as well or better than the American plant did, and some Classical guitars, (and for the same reason now, ukuleles), because quite simply sometimes overseas builders are really getting those "right" more often than we are. But when it comes to the solid body or semi-hollow electric, or dreadnought or A/E acoustic, it's really got to be a USA built guitar, and I really prefer of those Fenders, Gibsons, Rickenbackers, PRS, Martins, and Taylors.

I have "so many" because like many of us I have a terrible case of "GAS" and simply can't stop buying!

That said, I have promised my wife that due to space limitations and the fact we got hit so hard this year by the tax man, as well as those ever present credit card bills, I would sell off just enough to pay off those bills, and I am already mostly there in just the last 2 weeks. (It wasn't like I owed THAT much!) So, I will sell a few more, than shut it down. I'll let my buyers decide which ones they like, and I'll keep the rest! After all, I love them ALL!

I think I hit on all your questions!

I don't know if I should be sad or relieved that you won't have any sweet sweet vintage things to tempt my meager wallet with....

(unless you've got a MIJ Vista Series Jagmaster in there somewhere. I'd love another one of those...)

Actually, I do have a couple (literally only a couple) of beautiful vintage guitars left. I sold most of them when the prices skyrocketed, and just started concentrating on "reissue" models of those expensive vintage guitars I loved.

You seem to be looking for solid body electrics, and it just so happens I have a GREAT one!

If you are into Nirvana, and the whole Cobain thing, do I have the guitar for you!!
It's a 1973 USA Fender Mustang in NEAR PERFECT condition for it's age!
It is literally museum quality cosmetically, very, very rare for a guitar that back in the day was considered a "student" model, and of course those type guitars typically got more beat up, or even destroyed, long before a more high end model would. It's an incredibly sounding and even better playing guitar....it makes you want to play for hours! It's in transparent Sunburst, which is also kinda rare, since these Mustangs are usually seen in solid paint, and the reason for that is because since the Mustang was a lower-end model, it was usually crafted from wood that simply wasn't nice enough to eventually be carved into a high end Strat or Jazzmaster, etc, etc.
The grain on this guitar is fantastic, and SO nice this guitar may well have been a special order, because like I said, it has to be more than a lucky break that a piece of wood this nice became a Mustang, instead of a model that Fender built that sold for two or three times the price of what this would have been at the time. The neck is also one of the nicest Fender necks I ever played outside the Fender Custom Shop or my favorite Telecaster of all time, my USA '52 Reissue Limited Edition Tele Deluxe. (Now THAT is a simply MAGNIFICENT guitar.....here...take a look:

Now....as to the 1973 Mustang...,,,finally found the pics......take a look:

73 Mustang again...

Oh..one more...check out this close up of the bridge...something so VINTAGE about the look...guess because it IS vintage, right? :D

That SG is a hard offer to turn down, but I must not let my GAS get the better of me (as it quite clearly did with you haha). Won't be able to get the money together any time soon and a Gibson would definatly not be appropriate for my skill set. Anybody wanting to buy a PRS though I would reccomend it, I've tried the lower end models and they are incredible.

Jack, Keep in mind I am open to trades! I am really hoping someone comes through with some high end uke that would trip my trigger, in return for an equally valuable guitar from my collection....as I said in another post, I know I can just put the right guitar on ebay, sell it, and then buy the uke, but it's so much more fun this way! (If this way works out!)

omg, i want that telecaster so badly...but i'm not even going to ask if you're selling it because if you were i could never afford it! well, not for a few years at least! anyway, you have a beautiful collection!
