I'm usually bouncing between Greece and the US.
A technical question for those who actually play the instrument . . .

Let's say, for example, I'm performing what I understand is called the In-and-Out Roll, which -- in C -- is tabbed like this:

-----------3-----------3--
-----0-----------0--------
--0-----------0-----------
--------0-----------0-----

My rolling hand tends to aim itself at the sound hole where my fingertips get more plucking purchase on the strings. Am I to pluck here, or up by the heel where I'd normally strum?

I tend to pick them up near where I strum. But you're right that you can get a deeper "grab" at the strings when you're not right over the fretboard. So if that works for you, go for it! I don't think there's any official right or wrong way.
