Question when playing tricky chords..

like for example
G ----9----
C ---10----
E ----8----
A ----10---

im having trouble with my finger hitting each other creating an awful dull sound.. is it ideal to spread the strings while playing meaning pushing down on one string to create room for a strum? How do you guys deal with holding difficult strings..

You've really got to arch those fingers. If your fingers are too flat, chords get too sloppy. Really make your fingers into claws.

Practice by playing E7 (1202) without using your index finger. Then move up the fret board by adding you index finger to the E string. It is easier to make that chord shape up around frets 1,2,3 than it is around the 10th fret. So, once you can make it clean on that part of the fret board start moving up.

my pinky is the only problem i have with doing that chord.. i guess my pinky is too short? lol.....
