The love of my life left me.

I picked up a ukulele.

I learned how to play one song so far. Aldrine's version of "Out of My League"

It won her back.

I am a believer.
Spread the uke love.

That confirms much that many of us think about many things. I think.

Wow. If she is that fickle, you better start learning some more songs.

Probably a good thing the first song you learned wasn't the old Roy Clark rendition of "Thank God and Greyhound She's Gone".

Yep.. I guess "Song Choice" is key when you're on a mission...

post a link to his version...I'll have to learn this for a rainy day when my wife is mad at me

Can't do a link buy how's this?

THANK GOD AND GREYHOUND
Recorded by Roy Clark
Words and music by Larry Kingston and Ed Nix

[C] I've made a small fortune and you [C7] sqandered it [F] all
You shamed me till [C] I feel about one inch [G7] tall
But I [C] thought I loved you and I [C7] hoped you would [F] change
So I gritted my [C] teeth and [G7] didn't com-[C] plain
Now you come to me; with a [C7] simple good-[F] bye
You tell me you're [C] leavin' but you don't tell me [G7] why
Now we're [C] here at the station and you're [C7] getting [F] on
And all I can think of [C] ... is ...
Thank [G7] God and Greyhound, you're [C] gone.

Thank [F] God and Greyhound, you're gone
I didn't know how much longer I could go [G7] on
[C] Watchin' you take the respect out of me
[F] Watchin' you make a total wreck out of [G7] me
That [C] big diesel motor is a-[F] playin my [C] song
Thank God and [G7] Greyhound, you're [C] gone.

Thank God and Greyhound, you're gone
That load on my mind got lighter when you got on
That shiny old bus is a beautiful sight
With the black smoke a-rollin' up around the tail light
It may sound kinda cruel but I've been silent too long
Thank God and Greyhound, you're gone.

TAG: Thank God and Greyhound, you're gone.

Enjoy,

Jude

That whole "chicks-are-attracted-to-guys-who-play-guitars" thing is false. It's definitely "guys-who-play-ukulele", and this story is great supporting evidence.

You have crossed the line of "man law" my friend. Section 1, para 4... never allow a woman to see romance and effort once in a relationship. Failure to carry on an act of unknowing and "dumb dog" looks will result in the ever growing effort of "making it work".

Yay! congrats, and thanks for the post. I am in a somewhat similar situation and it's always encouraging to hear stories of it working. My songs that I am attempting are "Mandy" by Barry Manilow (Her names Amanda and she used to hate being called Mandy so that ones more for fun, and it actually sounds really nice being picked) and "First day of my life" by bright eyes. Maybe a better idea would be to learn "In your eyes" by Peter Gabriel and play it outside her window one day. (Although I don't know if she knows her 80's movies very well and that could come off less funny and more stalkerish)

FWIW, Boston did a song called "Amanda." It's very romantic.

lived my life this way long enough to know it will only result in divorce...not that I've been divorced, just a little slow on the learning curve. LOL
Cut me slack though...my dad was 1 of 3 boys, I'm 1 of 3 boys, my cousins are boys, my friends were boys, my brother had twin boys. Shoot I didnt know nothing about women, and after 33 years...I can proudly say that I now officially know "very little". PROGRESS BABY!!!

lol. The more I try to understand a woman, the dumber I feel. I have been divorced and am now re-married. My advice is there are fine lines between love, lust, dedication and infatuation. Know for sure what you feel before you say I do, then later don't so much lol.

I second the whole learn more songs thing. Chicks dig musicians.
