When a tab for a song asks you to put a Capo on the 2nd fret (making it ADF#B) and then play a G chord, would you continue to play the G chord shape from GCEA tuning, just 2 frets up, or would you have to make another G Chord shape with the new notes given?

It depends on the tab author. Most of the time, you should continue to play as though you are without a capo.

Seeso's correct but I gotta say if the tab author is telling you to use a capo and then making you learn new fingerings he/she is doing it wrong. The fret the capo is at is supposed to be like the new nut (zero fret, whatever). If you have to learn the different shapes then you might as well just learn them and toss the capo.

I don't capo my uke but when I was playing a lot of guitar I'd use it so I could do fingerstyle stuff that flowed best out of certain positions/keys but be able to do the song in other key(s).
