Not sure if this should be in the random section of the forum but it does relate to the ukulele.

So, I've been reading a lot of books by Tom Hodgkingson (How To Be Idle, The Idle Parent) and he mentions playing the ukulele as a way of achieving his ideal state of idleness and freedom. In fact, it was The Freedom Manifesto that got me started on this wonderful instrument.

Hodgkinson is from Devon England and it seems as though he often organizes group ukulele jam sessions in local pubs...anyone here ever attend? I live in the US and so unfortunately I can't but I know a lot of UUers are from The UK.

So anyone else ever heard of this guy?

Tom Hodgkinson

Yes I've read the Idler magazine and how to be Idle/Free books. It was that which got me onto the ukulele in the UK. There was a local contact which The Idler article gave & I took it from there. Good reads Tom's books but it seems a bit difficult to achieve all he suggests in the modern world, sadly.
Henry.
