Am sure many of you have seen these in one form or another. The idea is to force the tone bar or brace to match the radius of the form inside the sandwich. Make a straight cut and release the stock and you have a brace or tone bar with a radius of your choice. Was set to build one when I came across this for sale at Luthier Suppliers.
As it applies to the ukulele; a very wise person once told that you'll never be able to bend a 10" long brace bar to match the 15' radius form. Well, they were right but a 20" length works just fine. The other downside for ukes is that the blank has to be 3/4" - 1" tall, otherwise your cutting air. The jig does accept a 1/4" - 3/8" wide blank with no problems. The window is very helpful for making certain the brace is seated well to the form. In the pics, Western red cedar 20" long cut to 15" and 25' radius on a table saw using the jig.
