I just heard a story from a guy at a local radio station. He really lives for music and related this story. During George Harrisons last days before he died, he did nothing but play Hoagy Carmichael songs on his ukulele. He was quoted as saying he hoped the Beatles music would be remembered as fondly as Carmichaels classics.

One of my favorite videos is George, Paul & Ringo singing Ain't She Sweet.
While it is not a Hoagy song, it shows just how much they enjoyed music and getting together and jamming with friends.

I saw that when it originally aired and it got lodged in the back of my head. When George died, I remembered seeing it, and that was what got me to buy a ukulele.

I went through a period of wanting to be the reincarnation of Hoagy Carmichael... Thankfully, I let that one go. But if I was going to die, I can imagine having nothing better to do than strumming a ukulele and singing Hoagy's best. My wife would be pretty pissed off, I suppose.
