Song Help Request Baby, strumming pattern please?

I'm trying to learn this song for my best friend who's just addicted to it. I just can't nail down that strumming pattern for first verse. I'm thinking DUX UDUX but just doesn't seem right. Help anyone?

Your arm probably needs to be moving up and down twice as fast as you're thinking it should. That's the only way you'll get those sixteenth-note strums in.

I do DXUUX twice fer each chord. I honestly think it sounds fine that way.

I do only one chink.
i go DUXDUDU
But my chunk is almost immediate right after the up-strum.
and my rhythm is eighth note, sixteenth, chunk, eighth sixteenth sixteenth sixteenth

but for the chorus, i improvise and it's different almost every time
hope it makes sense :/
