clawhammer on uke

Hi, I am just back from a banjo excursion. And have learned how to clawhammer pick a banjo. So now Im trying to transfer it to a uke. Aaron Keim knocks me out w/ what he does on a claw uke.
Ive noticed he seems to use a concert size , { I think} most of the time. Im wondering if that because it takes less string tension to get a concert up to GCEA than it does a tenor?
Ive tried claw on my tenor and its do able ,, but not as much punch , pluck or whatever it would be called. I tuned down some & that seemed to help.

Any ideas from fellow claw ukers??

I play concert and soprano scale ukes. I prefer I higher tension and tune up to D almost all the time now. Keep it up steve!
