Looks very similar to a lot of the Harmony ukes I've seen. If it doesn't have any cracks or missing parts, $70 doesn't seem unreasonable to me. The couple of Harmonys I have played were not bad. Likewise if it's a Stella or some unknown brand. It definitely LOOKS like one of those Chicago-mass-produced things, but they were often pretty well-made.
 
Even the entry level instruments back then were solid wood. $70 sounds very fair for a piece of 'ukulele history.
