I'm not that into making videos but would like to learn to make audio recordings of myself on uke. I have a Mac but am not thrilled with Garageband. My questions are:

1. Am I better off with a computer program or a stand alone unit, like a Zoom H4n? Any other recommendations?

2. Are there any websites that can host my mp3 files for people to hear? For free?

Thanks.

Looking around Google, apparently Audition by Adobe is coming out on Mac later this year. I use the PC version for recording, editing, yadda yadda. But, that stuff costs, man, no joke. You could always check out Audacity, which on its own isn't much, but if you trick it out and install the add ons and junk, it can be pretty handy.

Also, there are TONS of places for free audio hosting. I use Bandcamp (http://bandcamp.com/), but there's also Soundcloud (http://soundcloud.com/).
