serial numbers for gibson ukes?

picked up a sweet old gibson tenor uke today, tagged as "1940's".
i'd like to know exactly what year it's from.
serial number is 1682.
i could only find gibson #'s for guitars 1975-present.
anyone have some info?

Yes, I believe it applies to all types of Gibson instruments. This chart has worked for my mandolins and ukuleles, however Gibson was always changing their numbering systems as you can see. The chart seems to work best by working with your serial number and backing into the chart.
