America the Beautiful (http://chrisbakersongs.blogspot.com/2010/07/america-beautiful.html)

Lanikai O-8E recorded on a Zoom H4n in the fun 8-string key of Bb!

Have a Happy 4th!

Great performance! Thanks for sharing it on July 4th. No offense to Irving Berlin or "God Bless America," but "America The Beautiful" is the song I wish Major League Baseball had chosen to play (instead of "God Bless America") after 9/11 during the 7th inning of Sunday baseball games. It's just a much prettier song.

Love the sound of the 8 string, Chris! What makes you say '"the fun 8-string key of Bb"? Are the chords easier in that key? Harder? What chords are they?

Well, I got the SSB tag at the end -- I need to figure out a way to sneak in "God Bless America". ;)

Thanks for the eartime and comments!

Hey, mailman, Bb isn't too bad, but I wouldn't want to play a bunch of songs in a row in that key.

Chords are Bb (3321), Eb (3331 or 3336 though I probably played Eb6 3333 a few times), F (2010) and C7 (0001). Not a bad mix of chords, but the increased tension of the 8er can wear ya down on the partial barres.
