Good find ^^^^^

I am interested in designing an alternative gut bucket bass more than an EUB. I think the boat paddle neck is a great idea, however. I once built a washtub bass with a wheel barrow handle, with good results. My goal is to design at an acoustical bass that actually thumps and will keep up with a drum circle on the beach.

I also like this "rich man's wash tub bass" http://www.gravikord.com/bass.html

I am still deciding if I wanna go the one string route or to try to make a proper fretboard design like that paddle.

How to do you change the notes on such an animal - pull harder on the neck?

Yup.

Forces you to use your ears and not not your fingers.
