Another Firefly fan! Yeah,, I didnt watch it until I had seen the movie Serenity. But a friend then loaned me the entire first & only season. Great show, I really dont understand why it didnt keep going.
I think if River would have "come off the hook" earlier ,, it would have really livened things up..
She could be kinda like their chained pit bull,,, that they let out when the {verse} really need some work

I just barely watched all of Firefly on Netflix instant viewing. Very good stuff... and I agree, if River had started kickin' A much sooner, than I think it would've helped the show a lot.
