Ukulele & guitar playing togeather

I don't think they do, do they? At least in none of the bands I'm playing with at the minute.

C is C, regardless of the instrument, surely? Or is that wrong?

When instruments in "concert pitch" are tuned to a standard, like a pitch pipe or electronic tuner, they can play with all other "concert pitch" instruments. As byjimini says, "C is C" - just play the same chords or scale in the same key.

Instruments that are not "concert pitch" would be such as some bamboo flutes only in tune with themselves, or some other ethnic instruments that do not use the piano based system. Percussion are unpitched so it can keep the beat with anything. A xylophone is really just a piano so unless you get a really poorly made one, it would be "concert pitch" as well.

Does that make more sense?
