This is an awesome idea.

Cute uke! I like it.

So, ya making these to market? What kind of price point are you aiming for on one of these?

Yeah, I kinda like the whole turtle shell design too. I've always been a turtle fan.. I've often wondered what it would sound like, and the logistics of making one out of a large tortise shell, or sea turtle shell like one of those armadillo charangos.. Even if the shell was carved from wood, or fiberglass with a solid wood top.

Something like this..

Aloha Tudorp,
Good Morning Long time no talk, How have you been?
Thanks for the ukulele photo of the turtle inspired ukulele..
I think it's made up of a bunch of coconuts, which is a neat idea....
Until next time, take care!! MM Stan..

I didnt think of that. Now that you mention it, it does look like coconuts. Looks like it wouldn't take much of a bang to knock it apart though. That one is a little aggressive on the design though, but that is the idea. I wonder how difficult it would be to take a 12" X 4" block of solid Mahogany cut it to a turtle shell shape, carve in the shell sections to make it look like a tortise shell, then hollow out the inside to make the sound chamber, put a neck and top on to build a Uke from that. That, I think would be a fun project. Hmm.. I might need to call a gal that I bought Mahogany from before to make a resonator for my Banjole and see if she can cut me a 12x4 chunk..
