Hey everyone, I know it was tossed around for awhile now, but I'm making it official:

*This Saturday - June 14th - UU Oahu Meetup!!*

I work earlier in the day, so I was thinking around 5:30 at Kapiolani Park. We hope everyone can make it!! We're super excited to meet you guys and jam (oh, and feel free to bring whoever you want with you!). Post here if you're down to come chill with us, or if there's a better time / day for you. Shooots.

Arrrgh! I would totally come to this, but I have to be in Mililani to watch a scary movie at my friend's house that night since I absolutly refused to watch Strangers tonight. Darn. If we were doing something in town I would totally drop by though...maybe I can arrange something with her...

It's at the Waikiki Outrigger on the Beach...I doubt it's free. I went to their workshop when they came out with their first book (and second CD), I forget what I paid, but it was over $100. It was fun and pretty interesting...there were definitely some kinks to work out...but I'm sure it's probably running a lot smoother now. Some of it was a little disappointing, there was this lady who had never even held an ukulele before (which is fine, the course was more or less geared toward beginners), but when we got into topics like "Improvisation" she got completely lost and would start asking off-topic questions like "what do I look for when buying a uke?" and then 20-minutes out of the improvisation hour went to describing what to look for in a uke...in all though, I enjoyed it and thought it was worth the money just for getting to watch them upclose and really see their technique and how they interact with each other (musically). If you do go and Daniel Ho starts "going off on a tangent," pay attention to what he's talking about...it might be over-your-head at the time but a few weeks later the flying rock of understanding will crack you in the head and things'll start making sense...haha

I was interested in checking this one out too...but I forgot to call to get more info (schedule/topics/price)...oh well, too late now :(

yeah, sorry about that, guys. Looks like this one was some awesomely bad timing for everyone.

We're still going hold our little jam sesh, though. So if anyone wants to stop by last minute kine, we'll be there to welcome you.

For the ones that can't make it this time, if can, please post what days & times are good for you and we'll try to plan out the next one better (and further in advance). Mahalos!!

Ah man!!! I'll be attending my 25th high school reunion festivities all afternoon and evening, performing at our classes memorial/celebration for those of our classmates that have passed away over the years, so I can't be there at 5:30 and beyond. Anyone open for this Sunday, I just have to be back in Kailua by 7pm? Sure wish I could be there.

The jam was very cool. The highlights for me was getting some insider info which I am sworn to secrecy about ;) and getting to play Dino's uke  and just jamming with good people.

Mahalo to everyone who came out

It was good fun. Hopefully next time we double our attendance! It was good meeting HumbleSounds and Dino. Aldrine should be visiting Oahu sometime in the near future so we'll have one then. Probably will be a weekday though.

The meet up was great. Don't let Fred fool any of you....he can sing. He's just being modest.....also, he does some mean picking on Honey Baby. It was great meeting HumbleSounds, Ryan and Aaron.....finally. Next one may be at the end of the month......possibly in Central Oahu.......maybe Mililani. Stay tuned!

I wanted to attend this workshop with Herb Ohta, Jr. and Daniel Ho this weekend because it sounded like fun and the price wasn't that bad. It was $20 for both days (Saturday and Sunday). But I told Herb that I couldn't attend the workshop on Saturday because I had no money. He said no problem. I met with him on Friday afternoon where he gave me my first 'ukulele lesson. Yes, he is my 'ukulele teacher. I learned so much from my first lesson even though I was nervous. He is the nicest, the sweetest, and humble person that you will ever meet.
