On August 28 last year, I went to a guitar shop and purchased my first uke for $40. It has almost been a whole year since I got an ukulele. What should I do to celebrate? Should I learn a new song? What would be a good song to learn?

Congrats on the 1 year!!! I agree with mm stan. Those are some great songs to learn and in particular the Molokai Slide!!
