I've had my Martin SO for a few years now and really like it. I got mine second hand and have found out that in the original literature that comes with the uke ,it says you can put Johnson's paste wax on it IF NECESSARY. I don't understand the "if necessary" part.
I'm trying to decide if it is necessary. Has everyone else done this? Has anyone? Should I do it? Will it be much darker? I e-mailed C.F.Martin and they say "if necessary ".
Is this something I should do ? ?

Aloha Pukulele Pete,
My opinion is, I wouldn't do it!!!!!definetly...Because if you ever have to repair or refinish it,
it would be hard to get all that wax out of the grain of the wood and probally impede the
new finish to adhere to. If you try to sand it off, you'd push it into the grain of the wood.
Actually polish would be a better option..guitar or auto...I like new finish auto polish, but that's me..
I believe that the SO has a satin finish with the pores open...I hope this helps....MM Stan...
