A month or so ago I showed the "tatooed" uke ( http://www.wsukes.com/34/u34.html ) to my mom, and she said "I can do that". Well, not exactly the same, but I think they are lovely:

How do you do that stuff on ukes? I've wanted to draw on mine but I don't know how to go about that.. ><;;

Those are awesome by the way! :)

She's stencelling them - It's pretty neat :) She's been stencelling all sorts of stuff for a long time (fabrics, furniture, etc. ect.). Like most eveything, there's more to it than meets the eye.

Custom? I dunno - like what?

Are they stenciled before coating them with the finish? or whatever you coat it with...?

2-3 coats of lacquer, sanded between, then acrylics for the design, then a couple final coats of lacquer.

Deach, I'll ask her about it tomorrrow :)

More for future reference than for right now-- I still haven't received my most recently-purchased uke...

But would it be possible to purchase one like that from y'all UNFINISHED, and be able to do something similar ourselves?

(I've been wanting to decorate one of my own ukes for a while...)
