Dear UU,

I have a beautiful pono concert uke with the standard passive pickup, I'm in a band thespiraltones.com and when we're playing live I'm often fighting feedback.....

I'm putting the signal through a Boss EQ pedal which goes some way to address the problems.... but not completely...

Would a outboard pre amp make much difference?

Any of you cats got any advice?

Keep on rockin' ukers

C McUke xx

A quick and cheap way to cut it down is by covering the sound hole w/ a non damaging tape. I use 2" black masking tape. There's some early Jake live vids where you can see the body stuffed w/ cloth (black t-shirt?) or something. But a great way is to run it thru a good DI box like an LRBaggs para acoustic. The notch filter works wonders.

I bought a solid body Eleuke to get rid of the feedback from my passive pickup'd Fluke. ;)
