I think I have been under the wrong impression being that tenor and concert strings are the same only tenor being longer. Can someone please clear this up for me?

Here is a link to Just Strings. If you look at the strings for tenor and compare to concert you will readily see the difference. Each set of Aquila's has a chart at the bottom of the page.

Tenor string sets have a larger diameter than concert sets. For example, take D'Addario Pro Arte sets and take note of the tension . . .
