Hello boys and girls!

I decided to change the strings on my tenor (first time stringing a uke by myself) and ordered the J71 Tenor Ukulele Pro Arte. But when I was stringing the C-string I noticed that it was too thick to fit the gap in the nut. I was devestated, of course. I wonder, what do I do now? Do I throw away the strings, or do i file the gap to make it wider?

any help would be much appreciated/ Jens

Howdy Jens,
I just had the same issue when putting a SouthCoast, unwound, low-g string on my Kala tenor.

I did as Ruukie suggested and widened the slot at the nut with a small cone-shaped file.

It took less than five minutes. Works just fine.

What kind of uke are you using?

Jamie

Thanks for the replys guys, I'll get myself a file first thing tomorrow.
Jamie - I spent all my money on a Kala Acacia Tenor a few weeks ago. I love it, but I'm curious what the different strings sound like.

For Worth strings on a Kala Acacia tenor watch the review from TheJumpingFlea or for lowG-Aquila strings fingerpicking you may watch my channel ;)
