Hello,
the Uke I'm using right now to get started is really old...my grandfather got it a long time ago (30+ years I'm guessing) and I think the strings are almost as old. The C string always seems pretty loose (even when it's in tune). Is this normal or do I need new strings? Could it be that it's not a C string either?
Thanks

I would say change the strings...if you think they are that old it would be worth it

What uke is it? Do you know what size the uke is? Type of wood? Based upon what you said, yes replace all of the strings and while the strings are off, clean her up and a little polish should nicely. Then new strings and she will sing and sing!!!

Congrats on the uke!!

Aloha Atomic Boy,
Welcome to the UU and our forums....You lucky guy to have scored you grandfathers ukulele....I's say change your strings and see how it sounds....if it's made of Mahogany, slap some
Aquilla's on and see how that baby sounds....maybe some polish to make her shine too again!!!! Have Fun and "Keep strumming them strings" MM Stan..
