My printer broke, so I pulled out my computer and went into my closet to get my old printer that came with my computer to take it out of the box and hook it up (its been in there for like 5 years.)

All of a sudden I see my old Ukulele box from elementary school fall out from the top and I open it up and I cant believe ive forgotten about it all these years!

The reason why I am posting here is for a few reasons.

I dont know how old this Ukulele really is, all I remember is I got it from my grandfather, and he is around 80 now; it was restored and is in perfect condition.

I started playing it once I realized how to tune it up again and I been bitten by the bug :X

So what I am asking from all you Ukulele Veterans out there is.

How old is this Ukulele? [I am so curious.]
How much is it worth? [I don't know if I should start to bring it outside like the old times or not]

This is surely a windup! That's a kamaka probably worth a load!

I guess judging by the replies I am definatly not taking this one outside.

Anyone know how old it is?

Can you possibly take more pictures of the branding on it etc please it looks incredible I think you've hit the jackpot!

That's a pre 1950s Kamaka pineapple. I hope you are NOT considering selling it, it is a priceless family heirloom a precious gift from your grandfather. My father had an Identical Kamaka to yours and it was stolen many years ago. I would give anything to have that 'ukulele back, you cannot put a price tag on such an item. Play it to always remember your grandfather.

But you guys are making me scared, its like I dont even want to strum it now lol.

Yup, now I saw the new pictures it has a small hole so it's definetly
a Mid 50's Kamaka pineapple ...as for sentimental value...priceless.
is it a one piece back that connects to the heel?
and are the frets directly on the neck with no fret board??
Take good care of it, and keep it in the family!! and pass it on
to the next generation in your family... MM Stan..

You shouldn't be scared to play it. Ukes are made to be played. As far as value? If my grandpa gave me an instrument it'd be passed down. Think about the joys that your family will get from playing this uke. That joy will outlast any amount of money you can get for selling it.

What a great find! It should be played and enjoyed. I'll take a guess at the monetary value....maybe $800 - 900 or so. A lot of cash but not more then you would pay for a new high end uke now, so I say play and enjoy it!

Probably a load of junk, I'll take it off your hands for $20, just mail it to ....................................................

Some folks have all the luck!!!

Very well said.

I was going to make the same joke!!! Trash.... pure trash... give ya $10 for it ;)

Yes, keep it, and PLEASE play it! It wants to be played!

OH my gosh its a diamond in a coal mine!!! i wish Narnia would give ME one of these :K.

That is too cool. None of my relatives play instruments, except my uncle who plays bass like me. He sold off his old Fender Precision ages ago, and now he has a bass I'd like, but it's not like it's an heirloom or anything. You should definitely play that Kamaka. If you're REALLY uncomfortable learning on it, keep it, get a cheaper one to learn on, and save the Kamaka for a little later on. You'll REALLY appreciate its quality after playing a cheap starter uke for a while. But that's not what I would do at all... I'd play that one now!
