Does anyone know anything about a 2005 documentary about ukuleles called "The Jumping Flea"?

The film was made by a former movie special effects (model making) guy named Paul Kraus (credits include Who Framed Roger Rabbit). He's playing an ukulele in his Internet Movie Database profile picture.

I just noticed this DVD at Flea Market Music , and I was curious to know whether anyone has heard of it or seen it.

hi mds725

yes, I've got a copy of the film and have watched it probably 15 times. It was THE uke film that has inspired me more than any other. It is a brilliantly done doco, understated, comprehensive, going into the history and origins of the instrument, makers new and old, heaps of performance footage, and current day players etc etc. Lovely, lovely film. Get a few copies and pass it on. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!!!

cheers, eugene.

Thanks for the heads up, just ordered a copy

good on ya Bob. a lifetime investment for any uke nut. You won't regret it.

Easily as good as "Mighty Uke" in my opinion...perhaps not quite as slick, but all the more charming in it's simplicity. Both brilliant though!!!
