We played at a Kiwanis fundraiser for child literacy last night. One of the band members said her daughter had called her Saturday to see if she could fly up and be a part of it. None of us had heard of the event. I don't recall seeing it posted in any of the forums. Did anyone her participate and if so, did San Francisco beat Englands phenominal record? Ric

I was at DaSilva's this past Friday evening for AG and Co . . . good show, BTW. Mike mentioned something about breaking the record for ukulele players during the screening of Mighty Uke. I think it happened yesterday (9-26). Haven't heard or seen any updates.

I started a thread (http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?34742-Mighty-Uke-Roadshow-to-attempt-an-ukulele-strum-along-record-in-San-Francisco) about this event about a month ago in the "Regional Get Togethers" forum. The event was this afternoon. It was a blast, with a strong presence from the San Francisco (even though there were a gazillion other events today in the city), the Ukulele Club of Santa Cruz and a busful of ukulele-playing elementary school students from Menlo Park. There were about 500 people there, we were told, which not enough to beat the existing record. Still, it was a very enthusiastic crowd. Uni and Her Ukulele performed and Kala gave away three ukuleles, including what appeared to be a solid acacia ukulele (it had a slotted headstock). Check the Mighty Uke website (http://www.mightyukemovie.com/) in a few days for pictures.
